Come to think of it, Nate had really never had any kind of "partner". He'd hooked up a few times on the road, but that didn't really mean much.
"Nope. You?"

"Neither." sighed Brendon, sliding across the couch to sit completely opposite Nate, looking him straight in the face. He leant forwards so his head was level with his knees, now spread as far as they could go. Still looking up, he slowly rolled words from his tongue. "You must be just, lonely, sometimes... yes?" Fiddling with his drink, he patiently waited for a response, still staring into Nate's eyes...

"Very lonely, and not only sometimes. Most of the time," Nate said, taking a big swallow straight from the bottle.

Feeling extremely rejected by Nate, Brendon and his advances, though only hinted, were still ignored. "Um, Nate...?"

"Yes?" Nate said, looking up from the bottle, meeting Brendon's brown eyes for the first time. Brendon looked like he was going to say something, but Nate stopped him, putting his finger on Brendon's soft lips.
"This is some mighty-fine Jack," he laughed. "And I'm sure were going to say that alcohol is the best medicine for a lonely heart, and if you ingest enough, anything is possible." He winked, taking another sip from the bottle before pouring some into a shot glass, and handing it to Brendon.
"Join me?"

Slowly taking the shot glass from Nate, Brendon flinched a little when his fingers touched Nate's, hoping his hands weren't cold. He struck a "cheers" gesture, but didn't drink when Nate did, instead he stared into his liquor, not even knowing what he was doing. He just wanted Nate.
He felt like 2 hours had passed, but when he looked up, Nate was only just finishing his sip. Time was so slow in his heart tonight.
As Nate put down his bottle glass, Brendon put down his full shot, and shyly slid his hand across the table to place it overlapping Nate's upturned hand.

Nate smirked, and accepted Brendon's gesture by gently grasping his hand. Trying not to blush, he took another long drink from the bottle, which was almost half empty.
"You know what I hate?"

"What?" whispered Brendon, looking up from his hands to catch Nate's eye.

"Sexual tension," Nate whispered, leaning into Brendon slowly.

In a split second, Brendon felt every emotion he'd tried to hold back since he'd seen Nate that night. He leant back a little bit, before taking a leap and swooping in to steal a kiss from Nate's lips.
He lingered, then slowly pulled back, waiting and hoping Nate would allow him to continue.
